Easter is coming

I haven't blogged in 20 days!! Where has the time gone?
I have been working on getting ready for our Easter program, and Easter is coming up fast! The Tweens will be singing three songs, as well as performing a short skit before the annual egg hunt. They are doing a great job getting ready and learning their lines, it should be fun! After church Sunday, we will be stuffing 2000+ eggs. So much to do!

Sorry to turn my blog into a brag book all the time, but what else is it for? :)

Rebecca got a letter this week (notice that it is addressed to one of California's best and brightest). She has been nominated as a 2010 California Young Scholar. They publish a list every year detailing California's best students and their accomplishments, both in school and extra-curricular. The list will be published in June, I believe. We already registered her online. If you click on the letter or envelope, you can read them easier.

Every year at the end of February, we go back to the Bay Area for birthday parties. Becky's friend Miresa and Thomas' friend Elisha have birthdays on the same day, so it's as good a time as any to go back and visit. This year, Miresa had her sweet sixteen. She ended up having two parties, one for her smaller friends, and one for her teen friends. Her smaller party was supposed to be a roller skating party, but it got pre-empted by a hockey game, so we ended up at golf-n-games. Becky was able to attend both parties, so we were able to see some of our younger friends again: Timara, Tesla, the Vega clan, etc.

The girls had a great time golfing and playing games, and then had pizza and cake. The cake was left over from the teen party the previous night. Sorry the pictures didn't turn out better, but my phone does best outdoors in bright sunlight. Low light conditions are bad, especially with bright lights in the background.

Thomas and Elisha got to play quite a bit this weekend. The girl with the pom pom on her head is Elisha's sister Bethany. We drove down Thursday night, helped Teresa get ready & shop on Friday, went to dinner at George's sister's house and saw his family, then George and James stayed at Bev's house, Thomas came back to play with Elisha, and Becky and I went to the party.

Becky had a great time with her refound friend Ally and the other kids. The teen party was 7:00 pm on Friday, then the young girls party was Saturday afternoon. We ended up leaving town around 5:30 pm after getting gas and dinner, and made it home around 9:30 pm on Saturday, so we wouldn't miss the guest speaker at our church on Sunday. George also ended up getting called into work around 11:30 Saturday night, and then had to work all night Sunday night for inventory. We had a very full weekend! Our guest speaker, Jerry Heater, actually gave everyone in the congregation a prophetic word, so we ended up having a 5 hour service!

Happy Sweet Sixteen!

The line for the Chocolate fountain.

Miresa had quite a crowd at the party!

Teresa put up a sign that said something like "What I like about Miresa" and all the teens got to write things on it. She also put out flip flops for everyone to sign. There were bottles of nail polish on each table, and they had letters on them. They had to gather all the letters and unscramble to find out what they said. The answer was "Happy Birthday, girl!"

John needs a haircut, as demonstrated by a balloon and static electricity.

We had a great time despite the busy-ness of the weekend, and we got to see the Wilsons, the Hesseltines, the Fends, Kimberly, Connie, the Walkers, the Vegas, and a lot of others! It's always good to see old friends!
