Ashland 3/24/11

On Thursday I joined Becky for a field trip to Ashland Oregon to see the play 'To Kill a Mockingbird'.

We left at 7:15 am in a yellow school bus, and drove for 4 hours in blizzard and white out conditions to get to Ashland.  The berm on the side of the road was 4 to 5 feet high for most of the drive up.

We had a couple hours for lunch and shopping in Ashland.  It was raining and sleeting, but we enjoyed ourselves.  We ate at an underground restaurant called Munchies, then went shopping at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, and explored town a little.

The play was amazing, with incredible acting.  Very enjoyable, but Becky thought the ending was too sad.

We didn't return home until nearly 9 pm, which made for a very long day!

The month in review Feb 25 through March 13

I've been very busy and gotten WAY behind on my blogging, so here is a recap of some of what we have been up to....

Let's start with February 25.  The skies opened up and dumped 2 feet of snow on us, which knocked out the power at 3:48 am.    The snow kept going steadily.  I went to work at 8:00, but the power never came back on, and the temperature was dropping, so I ended up going home at 10:30.  With 2 feet of snow on the road and no power, the kids had a snow day.  We had been planning on leaving the next day to go to Mimi's 17th birthday extravaganza, but since the weather wasn't clearing up, I was worried about getting out.  The kids were bored with no power anyways, so we decided to leave Friday afternoon.

Here are several pictures of the snow before we left.

Yes, that's George up to his knees in snow!

Saturday the 26th we went to Miresa's party, which was part the incredible race and part survivor.  We split into two teams and raced around to find clues.  After two malls and two parks, we ended up at Delta bowl for pizza, a hello kitty cake, and bowling.  It was a very fun party.  Unfortunately, I only have a couple pictures of the boys at black diamond mines state park... I will put up some other pictures as soon as Teresa sends them to me (hint-hint).

On March 7th I went to the HS during my lunch break for a Renaissance awards ceremony.  Renaissance rewards kids for achievements in school, as well as community involvement.  Becky is in the highest category, Outstanding, because she is on the honor roll, involved with several campus clubs, and volunteers at the church and soup kitchen.

On March 12th the Betts family came up from Concord to do a Blessing party for us.  We took them out to the falls and had an enjoyable weekend hanging out with them.

Enjoy these pictures of the falls!

This is just a taste of what we've been up to.  I will try to keep up on my blogging !
