Mudcats vs. Thunder, 5/24/10
The air was chilly, George and I stayed in the car and watched the game. Becky stood outside and took some blurry pictures of Thomas.
He is really doing well this year. He's definitely ready to go to Minors next year. Thomas hit 2 doubles this game.
Raider's vs. Pirates 5/22/10
Sadly, I do not have any pictures for this game. I have gotten behind in my blogging, because we have been crazy busy!!
I was not at this game because I was taking a test for a different position at my work. Rebecca was at Marine World with the Missionettes, George and Thomas went with James. It was a very close, tough game, they ended up losing 4-5.

Jr. Raiders vs. Big Valley 5/12/10
We drove out to Bieber last night for a game against the Big Valley Cardinals. James hit a triple his first at bat!
The team started out well, but ended up losing 7-12. I think that part of the problem is that they were shaken up by the fact that our starting pitcher John Yochum broke his ankle during the first inning. Other than that, the game was fairly uneventful!
Mother's day
I worked Children's Church on mother's day. We decorated picture frames with paint, glitter, and sequins; and I took pictures of the kids and printed them out to put in the frames.
My own child still has a nice black eye, although the cut over his eye is mostly healed now. This is the picture of Thomas that went in my Mother's Day frame.
After church we went to lunch in Redding, with our friends Jerry and Susan, their granddaughter Bailey, and our three maniacs. James freaked out a little girl at the next table by drinking his Jello through a straw. She was around 18 months old, and the way she was looking at James and Thomas was priceless. I would have taken a picture, but I didn't want to scare her parents :)
Jr. Raiders vs. Modoc Red Sox 5/8/10
Pictures from James' game Saturday. They did a great job, and ended up winning 16-6. The Major boys team is looking really good this year. We have a lot of solid players, and they have great attitudes. They are working together very well also.
James plays center field most of the time. The coaches told him that he is the captain of the outfield; no matter where the ball lands in the outfield, James is there. He is very quick.
Rebecca
The school wasn't sure if they would have funding for Jr. High track this year, so they signed everyone up last minute, had about a weeks worth of practices, and then only had 2 track meets. We went to Becky's second and last track meet on Friday in Redding. There were about 7 or 8 Burney Jr high students, and about 50 from each of the other schools. Becky ran in the 400 meter race, and did the long jump.

Freak batting accident 5/6/10
Thomas somehow batted the ball directly into his eye last night during the first inning of his game. His coach asked if he was OK, he said yes, so they pitched to him again. He hit the ball and ran to first. The first baseman said "coach he's bleeding", so they stopped the game and pulled him out. At this point there was blood all over his eye, and his eyelid had a huge bulge of swelling. They got gauze and an icepack, and I drove him to the ER in Fall River Mills. By the time we got to Fall River, he had had an icepack on for a half hour and the swelling had gone down. They gave him a visual acuity test (still 20/20) and cleaned him up, then they glued the cut over his eye. They use superglue (Dermabond) instead of stitches now.
Now I have one kid with 2 fat lips, and one with a black eye. Thomas is doing fine, especially since the doctor told him he's not allowed to scrub his face :)
He is just upset that they pulled him off at first and he never made it home. His coach called me while we were at the ER to let Thomas know that they all think he's tough.
Waiting for the glue to dry.
