October 2012

Thomas' uniform came in, so I sewed on all his patches.  Boy scouts meet every Monday night.

Thomas clowning around before TnT.  We meet every Thursday night, and the kids get free time for the first 15 minutes or so.
It gets dark early, but they love to play football in the dark

Becky knows several chords now, and can play one full song.  She just needs to learn a couple more chords and she will be able to play several more songs.

It's hard to take pictures of the kids playing, because they are constantly in motion!

Healthy Shasta sponsors a free admission day at Turtle Bay every year, called Walk This Way at Turtle Bay.  It is to promote getting out and exercising.
We took advantage of the free admission and spent the day there.  They have several animals that have been rescued, hawks and foxes and others.

The boys played in the maze

The kids played in the kids area for a while

There are several turtles in this pond

 We took a nature hike

Healthy Shasta had several games for the kids to play

We also went inside to see the aquarium

And walked on the Sundial bridge

The boys and I explored the Monolith, the last remnant left from the building of the Shasta Dam

The Boy Scouts worked at the Falls for Heritage Days.  Since James' uniform wasn't in yet, he wore his dad's old uniform.

After church, the rest of us went out to the Falls to enjoy Heritage Days

Thomas is passing out postcards at the Calligraphy table

This is like tug of war, but you are balancing on blocks.  Thomas worked this area also.  The boys rotated through several areas.

Becky made a pine doll

Very pretty!

We enjoyed the Fiddlers.  Smokey the Bear apparently is a Fiddler.
James is working the rope-making station

 Thomas is getting a "shave"
 Becky making cider

Becky got a curl.  They wrapped a strip of her hair in a wet strip of cotton and twisted.

Thomas made a candle

 James' uniform came in

 Another evening of TnT fun

Here the boys are loading the car to go on a trip.  George and the boys went to the Lava Tubes at Tule Lake for a (Very Cold) camping trip with the scouts

Becky and I went to Sacramento for the Women of Faith Conference.  We started our trip with a pancake breakfast with the boys at Thomas' school at 7 am.
We then drove to Old Sacramento and picked up Teresa at the Amtrak station.
 We explored the train museum

And then we met up with ladies from my churh for lunch.  Here are Angyl and Danise
...And Kristi
There ended up being 10 of us for lunch at Joe's Crab Shack

After lunch we played in Old Sacramento before heading to the conference

Women of Faith had great music and speakers!

There was a Jesus painter there.  He started painting a little scene that told a story, then turned it into Jesus!  Awesome!

For Halloween, Thomas was Leonard Hofstadter, James was  Sheldon Cooper, and Becky was Olivia Dunham.

We went to the Harvest Festival at Word of Life. It was pouring outside, so the place was packed.
 Becky's friend Gabby was there

There's Laura!
Thomas was hanging out with his friend Everett

Sugar rush!!

 Cake walk time
